Welcome!

23Jan08

Yes, it’s finally here — our very own website! Part of our initiative for this new year, this site hopes to keep everyone informed about the ongoings in the society. Upcoming events, photos from past outings, and other random stuff, will all find a place on this virtual space. You, as a visitor, will also be able to make comments and hold discussions. For starters, you can leave comments at the end of this post and tell us how we can improve this site. We’ll be glad to hear you out and see if we can make your experience a better one.

All right, enough with the talk. Without further ado, here’s a roll of upcoming events you should all know about!

Bugis Street Brasserie7th Feb is Lunar New Year. And what better way to celebrate it than what we Singaporeans like to do. Indulge yourself in a Singaporean buffet with us on 17th Feb at Bugis Street Brasserie – the popular, modern Cantonese Singaporean bistro, styled like a ‘kopitiam’ and sitting just next to Millenium Gloucester. Buffet starts at 12 p.m so wake up late for that day, and feast like a glutton.

Courtesy of Singapore International Foundation (SIF) who will be helping to sponsor and support our event, the price of the lunch has been reduced from £5 to just £2! Can’t ask for more, can you? Hurry up and reserve your seats with us. Reservations close 5th Feb, after which you may still book, but seats may not guaranteed. So what are you waiting you? Book NOW!!

Queen Mary SingSoc is organising this year’s London Games, an annual event held to bring together students from all around the UK to play together in sports and games. The event aims to foster bonds between new and old friends, as well as allowing one and all to develop friendly sportsmanship towards one another.

We would like to encourage you to take part in the Games. As we are one of the smaller Singapore Societies, we would like to encourage everyone to be keen and step forward and volunteer in any games they would like to play. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, we just hope you have fun.

If you do not wish to take part in the Games, but wouldn’t mind helping us, we do need sports officials and referees for the event itself. A lot of effort has been put into organising this, so we do hope you will also consider volunteering and helping us in any other way possible! The success of the event depends on the amount of support we get.

Should you be interested in taking part in the games or helping us, please let us know what you would like to play or help out with. Every bit helps, so we do hope you’ll consider it.

That’s it for now. Do check back often to see what’s new. Take care, and have a good one!
